EXPERIENCE THE CLASSIC “SCROOGE” WITH A TWIST

The tale of Christmas past, present and future takes Ebenezer Scrooge from the Charles Dickens’ classic novel and places him on stage in a musical rendition. The City of Rocklin’s Theatre & Arts program presents the Center Stage holiday production of “Scrooge, The Musical” at the Finnish Temperance Hall, 4090 Rocklin Rd., beginning December 8, at 7:30pm. Performances will run on weekends from December 8-17. Matinee showings will be held at 2:00pm on Saturdays and Sundays, and evening productions at 7:30pm on Fridays and Saturdays.

2006 Production of “Scrooge, The Musical”
Mark Joyner as Scrooge and
Caroline Mixon as Tiny Tim.

Brought to life through the lyrics of renowned composer, Leslie Bricusse, Scrooge seeks a personal transformation from the miserly, self-absorbed boss into a more generous and understanding human being. The musical is based on the movie “Scrooge” released in 1970. The first performance of the musical version took place in Birmingham in 1992, and the first London performance was in 1996.

This is a sophisticated version of the Charles Dickens' classic "A Christmas Carol.” It is almost an operetta with many of Scrooge's thoughts expressed through music. In this version Scrooge interacts with many more town residents and vendors, so you dislike him more at the beginning and like him even more at the end.

Directors Bruce Carstens and Jill Page lead a cast of local actors for this unique production. “This is going to be a wonderful production of Scrooge, The Musical. The level of talent among our Rocklin residents is just amazing. The costumes and the music are wonderful. This is a Christmas show for the whole family.”

Tickets may be purchased at the Rocklin Sunset Center, located at 2650 Sunset Blvd. Tickets may also be available at the door. General admission is $10.
