Capstone Theatre Company

August of 2004, Capstone Theatre Company, was birthed at Radiant Life Church with the mission to present life changing, biblical truth on the stage for the glory of God and to be a living reflection of Him with excellent performance, our character, and our lavish love.

The vision for a professional theatre company came from the mind of Pastor Tony Cunningham, and has been cultivated and raised by two theatre professionals with 15 years of experience and a nationally recognized writer of 22 years.

John and Kristin Klonowski have performed, directed and designed shows in Chicago, Los Angeles, Minnesota, and Sacramento, hold MFA’s in Theatre from UC Davis, and have taught drama on the high school and college levels. John is currently the Artistic Director of the company as well as resident designer, and Kristin is Director of Education and Children’s Theatre. Don Bosley, has logged more than 6,000 by-lines with The Sacramento Bee and has recently sold one of his scripts to Lillenas Drama Publishing. He was the original Artistic Director of the company and now serves as President of the Board of Directors.

Two years after the birth of this company, the mission hasn’t changed, and is, in fact, gaining momentum.

On October 14th, we closed the world premiere of Joyride, our 4th mainstage production which ran for 3 weekends at the brand new Artisan Theatre on Del Paso Blvd. This was a launching out into the community, because prior to this we performed at the church. It was a huge step forward in our quest to become a theatre of professional caliber.

Bigger steps have already been taken. This December we will be opening our second children’s theatre production entitled Stable Mabel “The Barnstorming Tour”. We are creating a unique holiday, family experience that will tour throughout the Sacramento region including West Sacramento, Elk Grove, Granite Bay, and Apple Hill. Oh yah, and it will be performed in barns and farms.

It’s Capstone’s goal to be a trusted outreach vehicle to the community and contribute to the vibrancy of Sacramento theatre.
