CALIFORNIA MUSICAL THEATRE PRESENTS THE
2006 MARTIN LUTHER KING JR. THEATRE PROJECT, “AND THE DREAM GOES ON!”
California Musical Theatre presents the Martin Luther King Jr. Theatre Project, “And the Dream Goes On! - A celebration in song, word and dance.” This original work written by Anthony D’Juan and Lisa Tarrer Lacy will be a new staging of the popular 2005 production directed by Ms. Lacy and features music composed and directed by Rev. Charles Cooper.
“And the Dream Goes On!” honors the lasting spirit of Dr. King and the civil rights movement with rousing music, dance and poetic words. Join the celebration and experience a truly unique, lively and passionate event. The history of a people, the energy of youth and the promise of the future come together in this vibrant theatrical production.
“And the Dream Goes On!” opens Friday, January 6, 2006 at 8:00 p.m. at the Sacramento State University Theater, 6000 J Street, Sacramento, and will run through Sunday, January 15th. Evening performances are Thursdays through Saturdays at 8:00 p.m. Matinees are Saturdays at 2:00 p.m. and Sundays at 4:00 p.m. Tickets are free to the public and will only be available at the Sacramento State University Theatre box office 45 minutes before each show time. Two tickets per person may be picked up for that day’s performance only. Each ticket guarantees a seat until 15 minutes before show time and seating is limited.
In a continuing effort to provide diverse theatre experiences to the Sacramento community, California Musical Theatre presents the Martin Luther King Jr. Theatre Project free to the public each January in association with the Sacramento State University Department of Theatre and Dance and Celebration Arts. This is the twelfth year of the project, created to foster and promote new and classical works of American musical theatre written or performed by African American artists. Past productions include “Gospel at Colonus,” “Lost in the Stars,” “Keeping the Dream Alive” and “And the Dream Goes On!”
